The UK debut
About a month ago we made our UK debut at the Conway hall in London.
We were happily surprised to see that so many people had found their way to an (as of yet) unknown Swedish string quartet recital, but the Conway Hall clearly has its own loyal audience, much thanks to its musical director Simon Callaghan and his predecessors.
This year we were lucky enough to catch spring twice: first in London and now, several weeks later, in Stockholm! After a few days of rehearsals and taking magnolia scented walks, it was time for our second premier in London - this time with the wonderful south african pianist Nico de Villiers. We performed the Dvorak piano quintet no 2 to an enthusiastic audience at St Marys in Perivale. Some of the audience members from our Conway hall recital even made it to our concert at St Marys in order to get a second chance to hear us perform Dutilleux's Ainsi La Nuit! Such amazing dedication!
Nico and I met at the Royal Conservatoire of Music, in Glasgow back in 2001. Since then we have performed together on numerous occasions, both in Scotland and in Sweden, but never before in England. We are very happy about getting another opportunity to perform this quintet again together with Nico in August this year, however this time in Stockholm. We look forward to it!
The audiences at both venues in London were so engaged, and generous enough to share their impressions with us afterwards. Meeting the audience eye to eye is something we always aspire to do. It brings another dimension to music making: the impact on the audience and getting their point of view.
We look forward to coming back to the UK in 2018!
